The Tale of Rico & Besita

One clear and crisp February night, a fun young couple went to the fair to relive their childhoods.  The man once won a goldfish in a carnival game when he was a child, and he was excited to see if such a game still existed.  Old school as it may seem, there it was...rows of shiny round bowls just begging to have ping pong bowls tossed into them.  The man bought 60 balls, and gave half to the woman.  They each sunk 1 ball, winning a goldfish each!  The woman's was white with a flare of red on top, and she named her Besita ("little kiss").  The man's was tiger-like with a strong orange and black body; he was named Rico.  The happy pair returned home, and the next day bought a nice new mini-tank, complete with beautiful blue gravel and some aquatic decorations.  A mere few hours later, Rico reached the end of his short yet adventurous life.  Besita remained strong, and in fact seemed to enjoy her independence.  She nibbled her food, fluttered around, and dashed to a corner when anyone walked by her.  However, after a week of solitude, Besita grew lonely, and realized that Rico had been the love of her short life.  Unable to go on without him, she too followed the white light and joined her soulmate in the great fishtank in the sky.  We miss you both, but we know you're happy together, Rico and Besita!  Our short time together will not be forgotten.

New exhibit downtown

Art is popping up around downtown now that our 2 weeks of winter are over. Now we've got these huge les paul guitar sculptures lining the streets. Almost makes it feel like a music town!

Midnight bowling = profits!

Went midnight bowling last night to try to win some $$ - you can sort of see in the glow of the black light the "jackpots" of the night.  Whenever a neon pin came up, depending on the combination and position, you had a shot to win some money if you got a strike.  I won $5 and was totally psyched...then Eric had the rarest combination and had a shot at 100 BUCKS!  They announced him over the loudspeaker and all eyes were on him...and he got the strike!!  I was so proud of my hubby :)

Gettin' all artsy in the "big city"

I'm lucky enough to have a mentor right here in Orlando who's a veteran in the music industry and a mixed media artist.  I finally made it down to an art show she was having tonight and LOVED it!  Spent the evening with my mom as my date, being super artsy between the exhibit and lounging in the piano bar.

Little guy in the front seat

I can never resist taking pictures of Brodie, especially when he's looking particularly adorable.  On this morning I dropped him off at the vet on my way to work (just a check-up), and little guy had to sit on the floor because my huge nerdy teacher's cart was taking up the whole front seat.

My new little reading nook

It's the little things that make me happy.  This used to be sort of a wasted space in our apartment, with just a bookcase up against the wall, but now it's much cuter and more functional.  We've decided to commit to another year in our apartment, so I feel like making some small changes to make it more home-y.  It's a start!

Who the hell is Mr. Whitmore already?!

If you're a Lost fan, I'm sure you feel my pain.  The evil mastermind behind the fake plane crash is now a young whippersnapper "other"?  Hopefully it doesn't take all season to get some answers!
